“Flowers bloom on every border” wrote Korean poet Ham Min-bok, a metaphor which inspired him to explore how the Olympic values each across borders of all kinds to deliver hope. Crossing Beyond follows a select group of athletes from diverse backgrounds as they navigate the Olympic Winter Games PyeongChang 2018. It tells the stories of athletes compelled to confront personal, social, political and geographical boundaries in the face of daunting challenges. He captures the Olympic spirit and soul, celebrating their essence by asking deeper questions about the value of sport beyond the podium.

Program Note

Crossing Beyond, the official documentary of the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Olympics, is not just a story of those who won the gold medal. It is a story of athletes who go beyond their limits. Athletes from Ghana, Afghanistan, Austria ,and England talk about the meaning of challenging through sports. And at the center, there is the unified Korean women's ice hockey team.. The only divided nation in the world – South Korea and North Korea. They show the true spirit of sports through the Olympics and deliver the message of peace through the slogan, “We are one.” Let’s give them a big hand for being true winners beyond boundaries.
