Program Note

To obtain the intelligence on North Korea’s nuclear weapons development, Park Suk-young disguises himself as a businessman and approaches a North Korean high-ranking official Ri Myong-un. They build trust with each other while they remain loyal to their countries. The two start to perform their own schemes. Based on the Black Venus scandal, the film depicts the secret political affairs in the 1990s and two men’s bromance beyond ideology. What would be the most important thing or belief to them? Gi Ju-bong’s performance of North Korean leader Kim Jong-il is also brilliant. But the best part of the film is the ending where Park and Ri are reunited.
