Program Note

Armed Lullaby is an animated film about Georgian children and their families forced to flee their hometown during the Abkhazian-Georgian War which lasted from 1992 to 1993. It shows four routes of flight that were taken by four children in order to escape an ethnic massacre. One had to push through the crowd to get to the last ship, another one to get to the last train, and a third to the last plane. The fourth child walks together with his family and thousands of other refugees over the snow-covered mountains. This animated film characterized by its moderate style embodies the sorrow of people who can never go back home because of the ruthless war.
