Program Note

Ricky is a second-generation Palestine immigrant in Australia. With his pregnant wife, he dreams of opening a restaurant in a suburb. His peaceful life turns into hell when his sister and activist-turned slam poet Ameena disappears one night. The film reveals the reality of racial discrimination that a Palestine immigrant experiences after his sister’s missing though he believed that he formed a family with a white lady and successfully settled down in the country. With the subject matter of slam poetry, the film exposes the fear, prejudice, and hatred against others in today’s society.
