Program Note

Faustine, a French mother of African origin, leaves her husband and goes to Syria with her 5-year-old boy. She discovers the delusion of ISIS and is de facto detained. Her husband, Sylvain starts a rescue mission with Adnan and Gabriel. The former is a Syrian anti-ISIS activist who exiled to France and the latter is a war correspondent who helped his asylum. Based on a true story, the film cleverly juxtaposes both the story of mother and son who struggle to escape from Raqqa and the story of Adnan, a Syrian exile. A masterpiece of realistic direction by documentarist Emmanuel Hamon.
