Program Note
A documentary about Cho Han-jung, the last remaining resident of Jangwi-dong Redevelopment Area. One day before the compulsory execution, he calmly stands in front of the camera and tells the story about the house he is trying to protect with his life. Eventually, the house is torn down and after some time he visits the site. Night of Collapse deals with the serious reality of the demolition site with emotional resonance. This is because the emotions of the interviewee are reflected well in the film. So, we are able to observe the inside of the person who lost his house instead of the case of ‘demolition.’ A documentary made by the director’s thoughtful attention.
