The air conditioner in T2 in Panmunjeom, the main conference room for the Military Armistice Commission, is broken. The problem is the outdoor heat exchanger. But the worst part is that it’s in the North. Will the repairman go to the North to fix it or will he give up? Or will he find a peaceful solution? It may be perceived as a comical incident, but AC in Panmunjeom evokes the undeniable reality of separation. That is why the broken air conditioner is a symbolic representation, and the film demonstrates how hard it is to fix it. A metaphorical film about “the dangerous reality despite the outcome of the peace talks”. The ending with the wind on T2 still resonates.
