Program Note

Kang Hyoung-chul, the director that utilized music and dance in Scandal Makers(2008) and Sunny(2011), summates it all in Swing Kids. The film takes place in a concentration camp during the Korean War, and creates a “dance floor” where the South, the North, the United States, and China become one with dance. In the midst of the brutal reality of war and death, the stage is like a fantasy land where they sweat passion. The ironical contrast parties gradually become one with dance, and they prepare for their last stage. A film that talks about freedom and human beings rather than ideology. More than anything, this is fun.
